The Muslim InterScholastic Tournament was founded over ten years ago in Houston, Texas and has grown into over a dozen regional chapters from California to Pennsylvania. Each year thousands of high school students compete at the regional level, with the top students of each chapter moving onto compete in the annual national tournament over the summer!.
Essentially, it’s a fun, educational, interactive program full of competitions and workshops geared towards promoting a deeper understanding of Islam. A weekend long series of competitions and activities include: Quran recitation, basketball, short film, spoken word, 2D/3D Art, and many more.
From March 27-29th, 7 of our students participated in the tournament. Asiyah Goldson, Sakinah Abdul Malik, Hanan Hadian, Tabassum Aminur for the girls and Ahmad Johnson, Abdurrahman Abdulmujib and Abdullah Abdulmujib for the boys. The children participated in the all day affair for both days. Hanan Hadian took 1st place in the Advanced Quran Memorization competition and Sakinah’s team won 2nd place.
Congratulations to all of the participants and we are proud to have had you represent Al Aqsa Islamic Academy at this competition!
